Growing up, watching home movies was a ritual that was carried out in the living room after holiday dinners with my family and cousins. Looking back at these images and freezing individual frames, brings up emotions of sadness, loss and nostalgia in the light of personal family struggles I experienced centered around my parent’s divorce, father’s health crisis, his remarriage and subsequent death. This installation was my graduate school thesis show from Maryland Institute College of Art. In it, I juxtaposed this imagery with my own memories during that time.
